Science and Education News New Hunan Client News (correspondent Wu Canhui) On July 24th, 40 teachers and students from seven SAIC Volkswagen Hope Primary Schools in China gathered in Shanghai to participate in the 2023 SAIC Volkswagen Stars Project Hope Primary School Summer Camp. Zhang Ying, a teacher from Huatingzi School in Heshan District, Yiyang City, took four students to participate in this 7-day summer camp trip.
Children experience an interesting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) course tailored for them every day. The topics of the course are: modern science and technology-automobile engineering, ancient science and technology-printing engineering, modern science and technology-mechanical engineering and future science and technology -AI robot. The content of these courses links the past and the present, making education entertaining. Through the zero-distance experience with STEM courses every day in summer camp, children practice how to turn imagination into reality. STEM course expands children’s knowledge from humanities and science, makes them feel the mystery of science and the fun of exploration, and at the same time cultivates their teamwork ability and innovative spirit.
After studying, children go to Shanghai to visit landmarks, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Yuyuan Garden and Disneyland. He also visited Shanghai Film Museum, Shanghai Museum of Nature, China Art Palace and other educational venues. Going to Fudan University to let children experience the strong learning atmosphere of institutions of higher learning can play an important role in broadening their horizons and increasing their knowledge. At SAIC Volkswagen Anting Factory, children witnessed the world’s first MEB new energy automobile factory and the magical achievements of "smart industry". In order to implement the concept of STEM course and better serve students’ lifelong development, on July 30th, when the summer camp for students ended, President Sun Yuhui of Huatingzi School led 20 key teachers to Shanghai to participate in a week-long offline training for STEM course teachers.
