On November 26, Indian Defense Minister Shri AK Antony revealed many Indian defense plans in a written reply to members of the People’s House of India’s lower house.


India-Israel defense cooperation


This is a proposal to cooperate with Israel to develop advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles. The plan will meet the national defense needs of India and foreign troops including Israel. Due to national security concerns, the details of the mission were not disclosed.

The Indian government is handling a proposal to purchase C-130J transport aircraft for the Air Force. No purchase contract has been signed yet. In addition, there is a proposal for India and Russia to jointly develop medium-sized transport aircraft.


BrahMos missile


Indian Navy and Indian Air Force have successfully developed BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with Russia. The research and development of air-to-air missiles has been approved and is being integrated with the Indian Air Force SU-30 MKI.


The redesign and development of air-launched missiles have been completed, and tests are being prepared. The design of universal launchers that can launch different types of missiles has also begun. The experiment is expected to be completed in 2009.
